K-9 vehicle with dog inside struck as cops investigated fatal pedestrian crash

A police K-9 was not injured after a Moorestown police vehicle with the dog inside was struck as investigators worked the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 73 in Maple Shade late Monday night, officials said.
Moorestown police were helping to divert traffic onto Route 38 following the earlier crash, which took place in the area of Fox Meadow Drive and Route 73 north, Maple Shade police said. The Moorestown police officer was not in the vehicle, which was damaged after being hit by another vehicle.
Minutes earlier, just before 11:40 p.m., a pickup truck towing a utility trailer hit a 35-year-old Maple Shade man, police said. Two other vehicles then struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released his identification, though a spokesman said none of the drivers who hit him showed signs of impairment or were driving recklessly.
Each of the crashes remain under investigation.
